Honey FAQ

Honey FAQ

  • Why did my honey crystalize? Raw honey naturally crystalizes over time. Some beekeepers will heat up their honey to slow the crystallizatiohttp://holistichoney.org/honey-faqn process, but this can interrupt some of the natural properties honey has. If you need to un-crystalize your honey, you can slowly heat it up all while protecting its natural properties
  • Why doesn't the 'honey-bear' at the grocery store ever crystalize? Commercialized honey has been ultra filtered to extend honey's liquid shelf life. However, to ultra-filter honey you must bring it to a high temperature which can compromise honeys natural benefits.
  • When you say my honey is raw. what does that mean? As noted above, keeping honey cool will preserve the flavor, color and enzymes in the honey. Raw honey has not been heated or ultra-filtered preserving its natural bee hive state.
  • What is unfiltered honey? This honey hasn't been filtered through a strainer. There may be chunks of wax and pollen that naturally occur in the extraction process.
